The Ronald McDonald House of Tulsa is a home-away-from-home for families whose child is being cared for in any of these Tulsa Hospitals:
- Oklahoma State University Medical Center
- Hillcrest Medical Center
- Saint Francis Hospital's
- St. John Medical Center
- SouthCrest Hospital
The House was developed to provide a homelike atmosphere for
families facing the stress of medical treatment for their child.
Families are able to share their concerns, experiences, and
fears with others facing similar circumstances.
The House is adjacent to Saint Francis Hospital on 61st Street
between Yale and Sheridan. The two-story brick atrium building
includes 24 private bedrooms; a double kitchen; special needs
kitchen; dining room; meeting areas; business offices; resident
manager quarters; playrooms; laundry; and outside play area.
Each year, hundreds of children travel to Tulsa to be treated for
serious illnesses. For their families, anxiety over the child's
illness is often compounded by lengthy hospital stays, months
of outpatient treatment, and the expense of being away from
home.
To be with their children, whole families-brothers, sisters,
and grandparents-spend their days and nights in hotels or
in hospital lounges. Removed from relatives and friends, families
need a warm, loving place to be with their children during
the outpatient treatment period.
The Tulsa Ronald McDonald House answers this need. It provides
a place where the whole family can stay in a home-like environment.
Families find support as they share with other families who
are also undergoing the trauma of childhood illness.
